Introduction

The Unknown Composition Gas object calculates the physical properties of a petroleum gas mixture solely from its specific gravity. The object does not make any check for temperature and pressure ranges. Properties, which are calculated as a function of pressure, include:

  • Gas deviation factor, Z;
  • Gas compressibility, Cg (psia -1);
  • Gas density, rg (lb/ft 3);
  • Gas formation volume factor, Bg (CF/SCF); and
  • Gas viscosity, µg (cp).

 

Installation

The package makes no system changes. To install it, you only need to extract the zip file to a directory in which you want to put the extracted files (perhaps C:\Program Files\UnknownCompositionGas).

The package contains the following files:

  • gas.exe (object client)
  • input.txt (input-data file)
  • readme.pdf

 

Input Data

The input data required by the Unknown Composition Gas object includes the schemes/ methods and the gas data.

The pseudo-critical pressure and pseudo-critical temperature (Pcp & Tcp) correlation scheme:

  • SUTTON
  • STANDING-NATURAL
  • STANDING-CONDENSATE

The non-hydrocarbon components correction scheme:

  • No Correction
  • WICHERT_AZIZ
  • CARR_KOBAYASHI_BURROWS

The gas deviation factor (Z) calculation scheme:

  • HALL_YARBOROUGH
  • DRANCHUK_ABU_KASSEM
  • DRANCHUK_PURVIS_ROBINSON

The viscosity calculation scheme:

  • CARR_KOBAYASHI_BURROWS
